Topic: In atmospheric science, a well-known problem is how to represent physical processes that take place on spatial scales that are too small to resolve in a numerical model (e.g., cloud formation). I will discuss a new approach to this so-called "parameterization problem", which uses conditional Markov processes to represent subgrid-scale processes. »Read more
