On April 21 and 22, 2016, there will be a new edition of the yearly PhD days in analysis and dynamics, in Lunteren. This is a great venue for current PhD students to meet each other, and talk about each others' research. Apart from talks and posters on your own reseach, there are also always two invited speakers giving additional lectures.
On 12 March 2015 there will be a one-day workshop on symplectic geometry in Utrecht. This workshop is aimed at researchers, Ph.D. students, and advanced master's students working in symplectic geometry and related areas. It is organized jointly with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Invitation 106th European Study Group Mathematics with Industry 2015, Utrecht
Date/location: January 26-30, 2015, Utrecht University, De Uithof, Utrecht, The Netherlands
Since 1968, the Study Group Mathematics with Industry has brought together mathematicians and companies. Following the original Oxford model, about 60 mathematicians, ranging from PhD students to full professors, spend a week working on one of six real life problems, presented to them on Monday morning. During four busy days these problems are discussed, dissected, modeled, analyzed, and computed, and results are presented on Friday.
On the occasion of the 65th birthday of Jan Sanders, a workshop will be held at VU University Amsterdam:
An algebraic view of dynamics - Wed 16 and Thu 17 April 2014.
We are happy to announce this year's NDNS+ meeting for PhD students in Analysis and Dynamics. The PhD Days in Analysis and Dynamics will take place on 24 and 25 April 2014 in Lunteren.
During this meeting we expect participants to introduce themselves and their research in the form of a poster or a short talk. Apart from these talks, two graduate level lectures will be delivered.
On February 21, 2013, the PhD Defence of Michiel Renger will take place, and the lectures of:
- Alexander Mielke (Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics, Institut für Mathematik Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin)
Title: “Using gradient structures for modeling semiconductors”
- Johannes Zimmer (Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Bath)
Title: “Martensitic phase transitions: from microscopic waves to a macroscopic description”
An NDNS+ summer school will be held at 17-21 June 2013 at ICMS Advanced Study Center, Eindhoven University of Technology.
Just like last year, a meeting for the NDNS+ PhD students will take place. This time too, the ``PhD days in Dynamics and Analysis'' will meet in woods of Lunteren (Veluwe) on 25th and 26th of April, 2012.
The Darcy Lecture will be given by Prof. dr. Majid Hassanizadeh from Utrecht University, Department of Earth Sciences on "Capillarity in Porous Media, on Micro- and Macroscale, Revisited", on November 12, 2012, at the Eindhoven Multiscale Institute.
The stochastics cluster STAR and the nonlinear dynamics cluster NDNS+ are organizing an Outreach Day on the topic "Stochastics and Nonlinear Dynamics in the Life Sciences". The workshop is open to all and free of charge, but please register.
Speakers: Prof. Willi Jäger, Prof. Andro Mikelić, Prof. Florin Radu
Date: Tuesday September 18, 2012
Time: 09.00-12.00 hrs
Location: Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, MF 02
Theme: Fluids and solids interacting over scales
On Monday 27th of August there will be a mini-symposium on dynamical systems at the University of Utrecht.
Everyone interested is cordially invited!
The opening symposium of the Eindhoven Multiscale Institute will be held on October 24-26 2012 at TU Eindhoven. The Institute was founded early in 2012, and aims to bring together all multiscale science at the university to nucleate and facilitate scientific breakthroughs in this exciting field.
A one-day workshop on April 17, 2012, at TU Eindhoven. This workshop brings together experts on the continuous and discrete formulation of saddle point problems from several areas of computational science, both for specific and general problems, and on efficient (parallel) solution techniques for the resulting systems of equations. This workshop will be useful both to researchers dealing with applications that give rise to saddle point problems and to developers of effective solution techniques for the resulting equations.
On April 18-20, 2012, a workshop will be held on Open problems between micro and macro in systems of agents and particles.
This workshop aims at bringing scientists from different fields together, around a common theme: the transition from micro to macro scales in systems of particles, agents, dislocations, people, bacteria, animals - any system in which many microscopic elements conspire to create interesting effects at larger scales.
On Wednesday March 21 an NDNS+ symposium on Delay Equations takes place in the BBL building of Utrecht University.
Except the many workshops, lectures and seminars that are organized by the teams that participate in NDNS+, the NDNS+ cluster organizes approximately twice per year workshops related to its mission aimed at bringing together the members of the cluster and facilitate the communication between them.
